Crochet Shim Shim
Shim Shim
Shim Shim is a cute and fun character from a kids show called True and The Rainbow Kingdom.
One thing I love about this pattern is that it’s a wonderful project to practice your colour changes. Shim Shim has lots of colour changes between the white and red.
Kind of like a candy cane octopus!
I tried something different with this pattern. In the show Shim Shim has very defined red sections and white sections. Every time I’ve done colour changes the colours poke through either at the top or bottom of the new colours. Which can be seen in the legs.
So, to achieve the really defined lines I used loose back loop only slip stitches for the first row of the colour change and for the second row I used Back Loop Only single crochets.
This same technique can be seen in my other True & The Rainbow Kingdom crochet pattern BeePaw.

The pattern is worked in continuous rounds.
(__,__)x# rep = repeat the set number of stitches that many times.
**Example: (sc, inc)x6 means repeat (sc,inc) 6 times for a total of 18 stitches.
In between every colour change on the body is a round of back loop only slip stitches in the new colour change. The round that follows after the slip stitch round is also done in the back loops only of the slip stitches.
This is done to give the look of crisp clean lines when colour changes are done.
The limbs alternate white yarn to red yarn every 2 rounds, staying at 6 sts per round.
